As hunting season picks up, anyone wishing to hunt must first take a safety training course.
The Greene County Conservation Board is sponsoring a three-day class this Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It takes place at the Jefferson Depot from 6:30 to 9pm on Tuesday and Thursday, followed by a daytime class Saturday at Slininger Woods from 8am to 4pm. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch for that day.
Individuals must attend all three classes to receive a certificate of completion. Anyone born after January 1, 1972 is required to take the safety training before purchasing a hunting license in Iowa.
There’s no cost to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged by clicking the link below. Anyone with questions may call County Conservation Director Dan Towers at 386-5674.
