August is off to a relatively dry start here in the Raccoon River Valley.
According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie Center received 1.3 inches of rain this past week for a total of 1.65 inches so far this month. Another 0.48 inch fell in Jefferson for a total of 0.56 inch the first two weeks of August. Perry saw just a third of an inch of precipitation since our last report for a total of one half inch so far this month.
Normal monthly precipitation totals range between 3.9 and 4.3 inches locally.
