Even the strongest programs endure rebuilding years, and that could be what’s in store for ADM volleyball this season.

The Tigers endured the loss of five graduated seniors from last year’s team that made yet another deep playoff run, culminating with a hard-fought, five-set loss to Lewis Central.

All five seniors were key contributors, and all were named to the Raccoon River Conference’s first or second all-conference teams or received honorable mention.

With that in mind, what are the team’s expectations given its youth and relative lack of experience?

“Well, it’s still a big question,” said Tigers head coach Mary Beth Scott. “We’re certainly trying to work out the kinks and see who’s going to be able to do what, but I’m very optimistic. We’re an athletic team. We are going to have some young players, but overall some of our seniors are going to step up and I just think they are a very cohesive group. They enjoy being with each other, and that can make for a fun season.”

ADM had its first official practice on Monday. The Tigers open the season Aug. 25 with a four-team invite at Newton.
