Greene County High School Volleyball Media Day was held Wednesday at the middle school in Jefferson. Today is day four of practice for the Rams. Veteran Head Coach Donna Carhill returns, as does assistant coach Carly Tiffany-Brown, who has moved to the Junior Varsity level. Former Jefferson-Scranton athlete Tiffany Promes Hupp is the new freshman coach.
Junior Nadia Fisher is the only player returning with varsity experience after 2015 graduation took 11 of last season’s 12 squad members. That team went 6-3 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play and was 13-18 overall.
Coach Carhill told Raccoon Valley Radio how she plans to put together this season’s varsity squad. “We will evaluate each of the players, look at how they gel as a team, and make decisions based on who’s going to play where and then we’re also going to have to keep improving our level of play to transition from the junior varsity level to the varsity level.”
The Rams play on the road seven times before opening the home portion of the schedule in the middle school gym in Jefferson on Sept. 24 vs. PCM (Monroe) and Saydel (Des Moines).
