Friday, August 7th
A deputy and the sheriff investigated a reported fire south of Jefferson along the bike trail near the trestle bridge. The fire was a controlled burn near the old dump.
A deputy assisted the Sioux City Police Department with locating a Greene County resident.
A deputy was advised of a gas drive off from the Paton Pit Stop gas station. Polk County was advised of the vehicle owner and description of the car.
A deputy was dispatched to the 1200 block of Main Street East in Grand Junction for the report of a male subject loitering and causing a disturbance.
A deputy spoke with a Rippey resident about the possible violation of a no-contact order.
Several deputies and Jefferson Police Officers assisted a jailer with an unruly and belligerent male inmate at the Greene County Jail.
A deputy checked a driver of a vehicle that was experiencing mechanical difficulties on Highway 30 near Orchard Avenue. She indicated that she was safe and had a tow truck on the way.
A deputy was advised of a possible underage drinking party in the 1000 block of 237th Street. The deputy located the party spot but found no one at the campsite. Coolers and alcohol were confiscated by the deputy at that time.
A deputy was dispatched to the 800 block of Percival Street in Grand Junction to investigate a reported burglary and theft of personal property.
Saturday, August 8th
A deputy assisted Greene County EMS and a Jefferson Police Officer with a medical call in Jefferson.
A deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of 3rd Street in Rippey to mediate a civil dispute between a homeowner and his renter.
A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with locating a reported erratic driver near Jefferson. The vehicle was located and followed for an extended time, with no driving infractions viewed by either officer.
Sunday, August 9th
A deputy was asked to check the welfare of a male subject walking near the intersection of 250th Street and E Avenue. The male was given a ride back to Scranton.
A deputy was advised of cattle along the roadway at 140th Street and D Avenue. The owner of the calves had already returned the cattle back into the pasture upon the deputy’s arrival.
A deputy was dispatched for the report of cattle on 235th Street east of Jefferson. The cattle owner was advised of the situation.
A deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of Irving Street in Scranton for a rogue woodchuck roaming their yard.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of State Street in Scranton to investigate a reported strange noise coming from the basement. The source of the noise was not found, and several juveniles in the home were assured that nothing was in the basement.
A deputy was dispatched to Spring Lake Park for the report of a large dog injuring a smaller dog at a campsite. The smaller dog was taken to the Jefferson Veterinary Clinic for treatment of its wounds. The owner of the larger dog agreed to pay the vet bills.
A deputy was advised of several overdue river floaters on the Raccoon River between the Jackson Hill Bridge and Henderson Park. The deputy checked several locations and was soon advised that the river floaters had reached the park.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
