Absolute performance Therapy in Waukee contracts with ADM High School to provide athletic training in terms of injury prevention, maintenance and treatment.
Owner Alyssa Subbert recently spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio about her company’s role within ADM athletics, which has changed from full-on performance athletic training to only working with injured athletes because the activities department hired a strength coach to work in-house.
Subbert has a very real connection to injuries, and it’s what got her into personal training and injury treatment. She’s motivated in part by her past, which included one severe injury that cut her high school athletic career short.
“I tore my ACL in high school and missed my senior year, and that’s why I went into the profession I’m in,” Subbert said. “So when we took on this school, I picked it because my kids go here and it’s really important that they have the best care and the best strength and conditioning and the best performance improvement, and so I wanted to be a part of that.
“Athletics has changed so monumentally. If I would have known someone like me or we would have had the programming when I was a kid, I wouldn’t have torn ACL … our coaches just didn’t know.”
