As we’ve reported, voter turnout was low in Tuesday’s special election with just 10 percent of the total registered voters in Dallas County casting a ballot.

With just one item on the ballot perhaps that doesn’t come as a surprise but what may is how the votes tallied in different communities across the County.

According to unofficial results from the Dallas County Auditor’s office, 58 percent of Perry residents voted to approve the $16.8 million bond referendum to build a new jail and law enforcement center.  However, the majority of voters in Adel, 55 percent, voted No on Proposition A.

The Sugar Grove or Dallas Center precinct was the smallest area where the 60 percent super majority of votes needed to pass the measure was received, as 272 voters said Yes to just 156 No votes.

The majority of voters in the metro area of the county also voted in favor of the issue, including 61 percent of voters in Waukee, 63 percent in both Clive and Urbandale and 68 percent in West Des Moines.
