K107-GenericNearly 55 percent of Guthrie County voters decided Tuesday that they want to keep Plan 3 as their method of electing the Board of Supervisors. A bipartisan petitioning group pushed for Plan 2, but their effort ultimately failed. Supervisor Mike Dickson says approximately 90 percent of the petitioning group was from the Lake Panorama and Panora area. He believes they should pay for the election which he says was a waste of time and taxpayer dollars. “The committee or group, whatever you want to call them, that put this forward, should be paying for this. In the end, we’re back to where we started and the taxpayers are out a bunch of money for this election that really shouldn’t have happened.”

Dickson believes the cost of the election to be near $15,000. Guthrie County Auditor Jerri Christman says she won’t have the exact cost until payroll is completed at the end of next week.
