Greene County wrapped up its 2015 football camp Wednesday night and official high school practice begins on Monday, August 10. Head Coach Dean Lansman and his coaching staff have a dozen seniors that have quite a bit of varsity experience and that group is expected to lead the Rams.
One of the returning seniors is Matthew Gordon, a two-way lineman. He talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about being a senior. “It’s definitely different being a senior now. I started playing as a sophomore. My buddies and I were talking the other day saying it feels so weird because we’re the big guys now. When you’re a sophomore everyone seems six feet, five inches tall and way bigger than you.” Several of the seniors will likely have to play on both sides of the ball, and that could include Gordon. He talked about conditioning. “The biggest thing about that is a lot of our team is already pretty well conditioned because of the strength and conditioning this summer that we all did, so I think we’re pretty well set.” The senior talked about expectations for the upcoming season. “The biggest expectation right now is to win most of our games and finish first or second in our district. That’s our main goal.”
Gordon and his teammates begin official football practice on Monday, August 10.
