Today is the final day of the 2015 Greene County Rams football camp. Official practice for high school players starts on Monday, August 10.
Head Coach Dean Lansman and the Rams enter their second season in Class 3A District 2. A year ago the Rams were moving up a class from 2A and there were questions how well the team would compete in 3A. The Rams did well by going 4-2 in the district and finishing in third place. Coach Lansman told Raccoon Valley Radio he thought the fifth game of the season was a turning point. “It was the game at Webster City where most people would have said we were a big underdog with the caliber of team they had and the style of offense (single wing) they employ. Our kids stepped up and played a great game that evening, and from that point on I think we improved. We hope we can build on that and feel like we have some good things carrying over from last season.”
The Rams have a scrimmage in Jefferson on Friday, Aug. 21 vs. Panorama (Panora), then open the regular season in Lake City vs. South Central Calhoun on KG98 a week later on August 28.
