More postseason honors have been received by Greene County High School softball players. For the second straight season Marissa Promes was named by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association to the Class 3A first team and Emily Christensen was named to the second team. Both are seniors. Also for the second straight season, the Rams placed third in the 3A State Tournament, and they set a program record this year with 32 wins against just seven losses.

Promes went 30-4 this season as the Rams’ primary pitcher. She threw 230 innings with a 2.16 earned run average, 241 strikeouts and just 43 walks. At the plate, Promes batted .279 with two home runs and 25 runs batted in.

Christensen played shortstop and hit .380 with three home runs and a team best 42 runs driven in. She also had 18 doubles, 10 more than the next best total on the squad.
