Bailey Godwin is one of the seven Greene County softball seniors that ended their high school sports careers with a second straight third place finish in the Class 3A State Tournament. The Rams were third by virtue of a 7-6 victory over Center Point-Urbana on Friday afternoon to finish the season with a 32-7 record. She told Raccoon Valley Radio what it feels like to place third at two State tournaments. “It’s amazing! It’s the greatest feeling ever! I couldn’t have asked for a better team and eight better girls to play with or better coaches to coach me.”

Godwin came up with a key double over the head of the center fielder to drive in two runs during Greene County’s four-run second inning after they trailed 4-0. She told Raccoon Valley Radio what she was thinking going up to the plate. “I just told myself I was going to get up there and get a hit and get those runs in, so that’s what I did.” She is a left-handed slap hitter batting ninth in the order and hit .331 for the season. Godwin also completed her first season as a catcher, making the switch from the infield after two other catchers went down with injuries in the off season.
