Polk County deputies have arrested a fugitive who had previously been on the loose in the Stuart area.
Sergeant Brandon Bracelin says 30 year old Joseph LeClair was arrested at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday. He escaped from Fort Des Moines Correctional Facility on May 18th and was able to elude numerous law enforcement agencies during a chase into a cornfield on Wednesday, July 8th, near Menlo.
LeClair is currently being held in the Polk County Jail with no bond, but Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says deputies will transfer him to the Guthrie County Jail, Wednesday afternoon. LeClair has a warrant for a parole violation in Guthrie County and was wanted in Polk County for leaving Fort Des Moines. After that escape, Arganbright believes LeClair will ultimately be headed to prison.
