The high school baseball regular season for Greene County is winding down, but fans have three opportunities this week to watch the Rams at Allenworth Field in Jefferson. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team has clinched the program’s first winning season since 2008 and will host Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponent Saydel tonight. The Eagles are in second place in the 10-team HOIAC with Greene County a game back in third. Gilbert has clinched the conference title. You can hear tonight’s action on KG98 and online at www.raccoonvalleyradio.com shortly after 7 p.m. with first pitch around 7:15 p.m.
Tomorrow night Greene County plays host to non-conference opponent Ogden, then on July 9 South Central Calhoun visits Allensworth Field in non-conference play. The Rams and Clarke (Osceola) were to have played on July 8 in Jefferson, but that game has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts on the part of Clarke.
