Earlier this week, the Jefferson City Council approved the final plat for the Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC) West Business Park.
It was a needed step before any of the lots on the 21-acre land, that’s south of Syngenta Seed in Jefferson on Iowa Highway 4, could be sold to businesses. Economic Development Director Ken Paxton says a medical business recently purchased one of the frontage lots. The one-acre business will also create five new jobs.
While there’s only been one agreement, Paxton believes more businesses will look to locate there, now that land is being purchased. He adds that new signage for the west business park is now up on Highway 4.
Another piece of property that GCDC owns is along Gallup Road on the north end of Jefferson. Paxton points out that utilities are currently being extended to those lots with the help from the City.
