The 2015 Iowa legislative session ended over a week ago, but there’s a possibility the state’s lawmakers could be back to the Capitol this year. State Representative Clel Baudler says that education funding is typically done two years in advance. They funded only one upcoming school year and the Governor may call them back to fund the second. “We did not get the two year budgeting for the schools. The Governor wanted that. We (the House) were behind it, the Senate was against it. So we’ll have this education funding fight next year. But the Governor talked that a special session might be in sight because of that. The problem is, with a special session we can go above the 99% spending law and we can spend a lot more money than we have.”

Baudler will give us a full recap of the session Monday on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com

Stuart’s Good Egg Days is less than a week away and will feature all of your favorite festival activities as well as some new stuff. Organizer Shannon Behnken says the new additions include activities for any age. “We have added our first annual slow pitch softball tournament. We have hired a clown to come out and she also does balloons, so the kids can see the clown and have a balloon animal.”

Good Egg Days runs Friday, June 19th through Sunday, June 21st in Stuart.
