The Greene County Fair is coming up in less than a month and some results along with deadlines have been announced.
Iowa State University Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Sarah Jo Reynolds says five of seven local 4-H’ers have qualified their communication projects for the Iowa State Fair and the Clay County Fair. Those who qualified for the Iowa State Fair include Arthur Bardole, Lakota Larson, Jared Marshall and Joe Thompson. Avery Bardole qualified for the Clay County Fair. Reynolds points out that the communications contest isn’t held during the local county fair in July.
Reynolds states that there are several forms that are due today for the Greene County Fair. 4-H’ers must identify their livestock entries for the county fair through their online account and submit their entry fees to the Extension office today. Other forms that are due today include “Share the Fun” and fashion show contest entries. She talks about what will happen if a 4-H’er doesn’t submit the required forms by today’s deadline.
“After June 15th, there is a late fee (of) $25 per family to enter those exhibits for county fair. And then after the end of the month of June, we do not take entries any longer. So those animals will not show at the Greene County Fair.”
