Last night both the ADM baseball and softball teams were in action at home against Bondurant-Farrar. Here’s a brief overview of what happened in both games:
Softball: W, 10-1
The Tigers improved to 6-1 and 2-0 in Raccoon River Confernce play by pummeling the Lady Jays, 10-1. Junior starter Molly Jacobsen went the distance, allowing just one run on seven hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks. She also added three hits, scored three runs and drove in two. Lexi Wyant also had a big day for the Tigers, driving in three with a pair of doubles, while also making the play of the night. With two runners on and one out in the top of the seventh, Wyant tracked a deep fly ball to left of the bat of Annika Ekstom, located the wall, and robbed her of a home run. All but one starter got on base for the Tigers.
Baseball: L, 11-4
ADM (3-2, 1-2 RRC) dropped its second straight contest, as Bondurant put the game out of reach with a five-run seventh. Senior starter Chase Eddie struggled, surrendering 10 runs (6 earned) on 10 hits in six-plus innings of work. Trailing 6-0 entering the fourth, the Tigers made it interesting by scoring two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, Elijah McCartney providing a two-out, two-run single in the fifth that cut the Blue Jays’ lead to 6-4. Bond Bondurant put the finishing touches on a big win with the seventh-inning outburst, keyed by run-scoring hits by Hunter McIntosh and Carter Brandt.
Both teams will make the short trip up Highway 169 for a conference showdown at Perry, with first pitches at approximately 7:30. We’ll have the call for ADM baseball on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com, while you can catch the softball game on AM 1310 KDLS.
