Winning seasons have been tough to come by in recent years for the Greene County baseball program, and for Jefferson-Scranton before that. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team will try to improve to 4-1 overall and in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference tonight when Nevada visits the Rams at Allensworth Field. The game can be heard on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with first pitch and 7:15 p.m. and coverage around 7 o’clock. The Cubs are 1-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

The potential is there for an outstanding pitching match up between the Rams Riah Nelsen and the Cubs Alex Good. Nelsen is coming off a 10-0 no-hit win in six innings vs. PCM on May 28. Good allowed just one earned run in a 7-1 loss to North Polk (Alleman) on May 29.

The Rams have been hot at the plate during their three victories, which all have been by the 10-run rule over Colfax-Mingo, PCM, and South Hamilton (Jewell). The lone loss was by a 3-2 score on the road in Collins last Friday vs. CMB.
