Three local military veteran organizations are sponsoring a blanket silent auction at the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson.

The Jefferson VFW Post #9599, the Jefferson VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Post #11 have five blankets for their fundraiser.  VFW Post Commander Don Ihnken says there are four branches of the military on four of the blankets with the United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines and one blanket that has all of them including the Coast Guard.  Bids can be made at the east entrance of the courthouse until June 11th.  The blankets are on display at the VFW Hall on the eastside of the downtown square.

At their last fundraiser last month, Ihnken notes that they made close to $1,000 for their pork bundle raffle and hot dog free-will donation meal.

Winners of the silent auction will be announced during their free-will donation spaghetti lunch that will be served following the Bell Tower Festival parade on Saturday, June 13th.

All proceeds will benefit all three organizations along with paying to repair the roof of the VFW Hall.
