The Dallas County Conservation Board will hold the first of two public hearings this evening in regards to the highly anticipated bike trail connector project.
The Board invites community members to come learn more about the proposed options, and share their thoughts in regards to the Raccoon River Valley Trail to High Trestle Trail connector.
The Perry City Council has moved their regular meeting up an hour so that Councilmembers can attend the Conservation Board meeting, a measure Bob Wilson with the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce calls “neat” and really shows their interest in the issue.
“I think what that says is they see the value in this connector trail. From the Chamber perspective, we’re seeing this as one of the largest economic development generators or tools in our near future. The rider numbers are huge on both the Raccoon River Valley Trail, as well as the High Trestle Trail and connecting it is very, very important for Perry. Especially where it comes into town and how we can best utilize it.”
The meeting will take place at 7pm tonight at the Forest Park Museum, the second public meeting will be held in Waukee on May 28th.
