Winning is fun. But winning with ease every time? That can get, well … boring.
The No. 13 ADM girls soccer team has steamrolled it competition to start the season, outscoring opponents 19-0 en route to a 3-0 start. Their toughest game so far was on Friday, a 2-0 win over Norwalk, but even that wasn’t that difficult of a test.
“Yeah, I think the whole team is ready for more of a challenge” sophomore center-mid Allie Cook said. “Those games are fun to roll over teams, but we’re ready for a challenge and we’re ready to see what we can show people and that our ranking aren’t showing how good we really are.”
Cook and the rest of Tigers will certainly get their wish at 7:30 p.m. tonight, when they’ll move up a class to take on the Waukee Warriors in Adel. Waukee (2-1) is ranked 4th in Class 3A.
ADM head coach Kelsey Dolder said she has noticed an uptick in her players’ energy with the big game looming, saying it’s her squad’s first true measuring stick-game of the season. To stay perfect, Dolder said it will take the same defensive intensity that has been prevalent through the first three games.
“I think they’re very excited,” Dolder said. “We played very well on Friday night against Norwalk. The girls brought everything they had and we shut them down a lot. They hardly got past our half, so we did a really nice job with that, and so hopefully we’ll do that again [Monday night].”
