Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey will be visiting Greene County later this week.

Marilyn Parker with Greene County Farm Bureau says Northey will be at Tim and Vickie Robbins’ farms as part of their annual “Ag on the Farm” day.  For over 15 years, the Robbins invite all Greene County fourth graders to their family farm to learn about agriculture and farm safety with hands-on stations.  Some of the stations include corn and soybean products, using Geographic Positioning Systems (GPS), grain bin safety and horticulture.

The students arrive at the farm at 9:30am on Thursday, April 23rd, and will enjoy a free lunch provided by the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association.

Parker points out that Northey will visit with the students and may discuss agriculture-related topics with them.  He will be there from 10am-noon.

The event is co-sponsored by the Greene County Farm Bureau and Farm Credit Services of America in Carroll.
