A reminder to Perry residents, this week is spring cleanup.
City crews will be picking up junk outside residences east of 1st Street and south of Willis Avenue today, east of 1st Street and north of Willis Avenue north of Willis Avenue tomorrow and all areas west of 1st Street on Wednesday.
Public Works Director Jack Butler says it makes for a busy week for his department.
“Myself and Steve Tibbles, our building official, we steal him for the week and we go out ahead of the crews and we actually take a picture of your property with the pile in front of it and we write down what’s there. And then (the street crews) come behind us, and we actually take one of the trucks from the recycle department and use that. We have our loader and a dump truck and we get about seven or eight guys going. When the garbage guys get done for the day, they actually come out and help us too.”
Residents will be charged a $25 minimum for up to one-half of a dump truck load, with additional half loads being another $25 each. Appliances are also charged separately at $25 each, box springs, mattresses and sofas are $20 and microwaves are $15.
Statements will be sent to residents next month.
