One person sustained minor injuries in a two vehicle accident in Perry Friday morning.
It happened on Highway 141 at the stoplight entrance to the Shopko and Hy-Vee parking lot around 10:40am. Police Chief Eric Vaughn explains what happened.
“It looks like right now that that blue car, was going eastbound on (Highway) 141 and the other vehicle was leaving the Hy-Vee (and) Shopko area and was getting ready to turn left onto (Highway) 141. (The driver of the silver vehicle) indicates that she had a green light and the driver of the other vehicle ran a red light and struck her.”
The blue sedan came to rest in the center ditch, while the silver car stopped in the left eastbound lane.
Traffic in both directions of the highway was limited to one lane for nearly a half hour while crews cleaned up the scene. One of the two drivers was transported to Dallas County Hospital to be checked for minor injuries. Both vehicles are considered to be a total loss.
The Perry Fire Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Dallas County Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
