The Perry High School drama department is putting their finishing touches on their spring production before performances next weekend.
This year’s piece is Altar Egos by Pat Cook. It’s a two act play about the do’s and don’ts of an American Wedding, and what happens when two very different families come together in marriage.
Drama coach Merrilee Bales says it’s likely the funniest play she’s ever directed and the students, including senior Keegan Wolfe, tend to really enjoy doing comedic shows.
“I think doing comedies is more fun because it allows us to express ourselves as the actor more than just the character and with the relationship that all of us have either in school, or out of school, (or in) extracurricular activities or something like that, we just know each other well enough to get the comedy in there and be able to throw some twists in there that we all get.”
Performances take place next Friday and Saturday at the Perry Performing Arts Center at 7pm. Tickets are available in advance at the high school office or at the door for $3 for students and $5 for adults.
We’ll have more with Bales and the cast of Altar Egos on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS.
