Everyone is invited to two special events hosted by the Greene County Historical Society.
The non-profit organization will have its first meeting of the year on Friday along with its first monthly program on the Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306. Exalted Ruler Hollie Roberts will talk about being the first female Exalted Ruler of the group along with the local lodge’s history and traditions. She became a member of the Jefferson Does in 2006. The Does is a woman organization that shares the same facility as the Elks. Her husband, Jerry Roberts, is a 50-year member of the Elks and served as exalted ruler in 2009-2010. Hollie joined the Elks in 2010.
The Jefferson Elks has 300 members and is one of the largest Elks Lodges in the state despite Jefferson being the smallest city to have an Elks organization.
The program will start at 1pm at the United Methodist Church in Cooper. A business meeting will follow for members.
Then on Sunday, March 29th, will be another event at the historical museum in Jefferson highlighting nature photography taken by Matt Wetrich of Jefferson. The program is being co-sponsored by Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s Tower View Team. Wetrich currently serves on the Carroll County Conservation Board. The event will start at 2pm.
No pre-registrations required for either event. Both are free and open to the public.
