Tomorrow several students will gather at the Greene County Intermediate School for the annual Reading Pep Rally.
Organizer Mark Sawhill says fourth through sixth grade students will hear about the importance of reading at a young age. Speakers include several high school seniors and coaches along with Iowa State University head football coach Paul Rhoads. Sawhill points out that the youngsters are always excited for the special event.
“Kids get into it. They get fired up about what we do and try to make it fun. And that’s the number one thing, anything you like to do, you got to have fun with it. It brings out a lot of good things from the kids and they remember it. I talk to kids that have graduated in the past and they still talk about, ‘you still do the Reading Pep Rally.’”
The pep rally will be at 2pm on Friday, March 27th. It is free and open to the public.
