A sure sign that winter is almost over, the Perry City Council approved dates and procedures for their spring clean-up efforts at the meeting Monday.
City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says this is a service the City provides for residents and it’s up to the citizens to keep themselves informed.
“Call City Hall if you have any questions on when those are, and I’m sure KDLS is going to having those out as public service announcements and it’s also on our website.”
City crews will pick up items next month, starting on Monday, April 20th for all residents east of 1st Street and south of Willis Avenue. Tuesday the 21th, pick-up will be east of 1st Street and north of Willis Avenue and Wednesday the 22nd is for all areas west of 1st Street. However, if you miss your specific day, special phone-in requests will be completed on Thursday, April 23rd.
The cost of collection is $25 for up to one-half of a dump truck load, with each additional half load, or portion thereof, costing another $25. Appliances can also be picked up for $25 each, along with microwaves for $15 and boxsprings, mattresses and sofas for $20 each.
Small items need to be placed in trash bags, sturdy boxes or other disposable containers, no larger than a garbage can and all items need to be set by the curb before 7am the day of pickup.
Items that will not be accepted include tires, any hazardous materials, batteries, paint cans, brush, concrete or metal bed springs.
If you have any questions, stop by City Hall or call 465-2481.
