The Greene County High School track and field teams continue preparations for the upcoming season in much better than usual weather conditions for this time of year. Both the girls and boys return State Meet qualifiers and leading the way in that category for the Greene County boys is junior Max Neese. He ran at state as a ninth grader on the 4 x 800 and 4 x 400 meter relays, then last season he qualified individually in the 200 meter dash, as well as two more relays, the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200.

Neese said 200 meters is his favorite distance, but 100’s and 400’s are okay as well. When asked about Ram relays for 2015, he said, “Numbers are down, somewhere in the twenties, so I don’t know what he’s going to do with relays yet. It’ll be a little tight, so we’ll just have to see how people fit in in certain places.”

The Rams open season indoors next Friday, March 20 in Storm Lake at the Buena Vista U. high school meet. The outdoor season for Greene County is set to begin in Jefferson at Linduska Field on Monday, March 30 at the Greene County Early Bird Meet.
