Weather like we’ve had for the past week makes track & field athletes and coaches anxious for the outdoor season to begin. For the Greene County High School teams, they’ve been able to practice outside on the Linduska Field track for a full week, but before the outdoor season begins on March 30, the Rams have some indoor competitions.
Girl’s coach Kelly Simpson plans on taking several events to the 22nd annual Iowa State High School Classic on Monday March 16 indoors in Ames on the ISU campus. Athletes from all over the state will be competing with action starting at 3 in the afternoon and finishing some time after 9 p.m.
Boys’ coach Dean Lansman isn’t planning on taking many, if any, to the boys’ indoor meet in Ames on Tuesday, March 17. One reason is that close to the full Ram girls and boys’ teams will be competing on Friday, March 20 indoors in Storm Lake at the Buena Vista University high school meet.
The outdoor season for the Greene County teams is set to begin in Jefferson on Monday, March 30 at the Greene County Early Bird Meet.
