State Representative Clel Baudler has been working on a bill all year that aims to strengthen Iowa’s laws against synthetic drugs. That bill has passed unanimously in the House Public Safety Committee. Baudler says he wants to crack down on those who use and distribute the dangerous substances. “It increases penalties for distribution, selling, handling of these bath salts, K2 drugs, et cetera. If you sell them as a synthetic marijuana to get you high and make you crazy enough to kill yourself or somebody else, it increases the penalties.”

Baudler says he has had a lot of help when crafting the piece of legislation from various County Attorneys and technicians from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s crime lab.
