The 2014 and 2015 final Raccoon River Conference Sportsmanship ratings were released Tuesday for the winter sports season just completed. The Perry district’s renewed efforts to promote sportsmanship during the winter season resulted in significant improvement. The Sportsmanship rating is broken down across four categories with the players, coaches, adults and students given a 1 through 5 rating with 1 being outstanding, 3 meaning fair and 5 as a failing rating.
For girls basketball, the average of the Perry four scores was 1.51. Perry had an outstanding 1.17 from the players, 1.30 from the coaches, 2.15 from the adults and 1.43 from the students.
For boys basketball, the average of the Perry four scores was 1.71. Perry had a 1.58 from the players, 1.34 from the coaches, 2.58 from the adults and 1.35 from the students.
Perry finished with a 1.5 for wrestling with three of the four receiving 1 ratings and the coaching receiving a solid 2.3.
In the conference and according to these rankings, Boone had the overall best sportsmanship in girls basketball while both Boone and ADM shared the highest sportsmanship in boys hoops. ADM, Boone, Carlisle, Carroll and Winterset all picked up perfect 1’s in wrestling.
