Tuesday, February 24th

A deputy was advised that a 2012 Ford F-250 pickup truck owned by Thomas Robert Peckumn had been taken from his residence in the 1600 block of 267th Street. An investigation was initiated into the theft of the pickup.

Deputies were dispatched to 270th Street and Q Avenue for the report of a vehicle that had run off the roadway and rolled into a farm field. After an investigation by deputies, the owner of the vehicle was determined. The vehicle had the license plates removed from the Chevy Blazer and the interior of the vehicle was stripped out to make a fire near the truck. It was at this time the Peckumn pickup, from the previous call, was located at South Vine and West Park Street in Jefferson. Deputies determined that the driver of the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer had walked across the farm field and had taken the Peckumn pickup in the early morning hours.

Deputies determined the residence of the owner of the 1998 Chevy Blazer that was involved in the roll-over accident earlier in the day. Deputies went to 806 South Elm Street in Jefferson and spoke with Collin Richards about his involvement with the accident. After an intensive interview with Collin Daniel Richards 18, he did admit to being the driver of the Chevy Blazer and to the theft of the Peckumn pickup. At that time Richards did give consent for deputies to search the home for stolen property from the Peckumn pickup. Keys to the Peckumn truck and stolen CDs were found in the home. Richards was subsequently arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail for Failure to Maintain Control, Theft 1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana 1st Offense.

A deputy was dispatched to a reported two vehicle accident on 215th Street and U Avenue.  A 1975 Ford grain truck being driven by Robert Scott Borgeson 43, of rural Jamaica was northbound on U Avenue and attempting to make a left, when a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier being driven by Vicki Rose Hansen 58, of Gowrie attempted to pass the Borgeson truck on the left. Hanson stated that she did not realize she was approaching an intersection and was issued a citation for Passing to Close to an Intersection. There were no injuries reported, but damage to the Hansen vehicle was estimated to be $5000. Only minor damage was reported to the Borgeson truck.

Wednesday, February 25th

A deputy while on routine patrol in Paton, discovered an open door at the Quad County Ag Service. The deputy searched the building and found it to be secure.

A deputy was dispatched for the report of a female walking along the roadway on Eaton Avenue just north of 220th Street. The female was not located by the deputy at that time.

In all case when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
