The Greene County Ambassadors and Hy-Vee executives opened the new Jefferson Hy-Vee store earlier today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The store features several specialized departments and over 20,000 items for customers. Mayor Craig Berry says the addition of another local business will be beneficial.
“It’ll give the shopper a new option to utilize this store (Hy-Vee) besides utilizing Fareway. I think it’ll bring some more business into town for the grocery stores because then people won’t be going out of (Greene) County to do their shopping.”
Vice-President of the Ambassadors, Omega Sang says she’s excited for the possibility of more economic expansion for the County and the bright future that it could lead to.
Hy-Vee has been in Jefferson since 1986 at Hy-Vee Drugstore on Lincoln Way. All 17 employees from that location are at the new Hy-Vee on West Washington Street. There are 237 total employees at the $9 million facility.
The store is open from 5am-midnight seven days per week.
