Greene County Supervisors to Meet Tomorrow

The Greene County Board of Supervisors will meet today.

The Board will consider for approval a renewal of a lease agreement with the Department of Human Services for the targeted case management.

Plus, there will be committee and department head reports.

The meeting will be at 8:30am in the boardroom of the courthouse in Jefferson.

Jefferson Hy-Vee’s Grand Opening is Later this Week

Jefferson Hy-Vee invites the public is its grand opening Tuesday morning.

The $9 million, 34,800 square-foot facility located on West Washington Street will be open to the public at 6am.

Regular store hours will be from 5am to midnight, seven days per week.  The store has 178 part-time and 59 full-time employees and over 20,000 items to choose from.

One of the highlights is a new Market Cafe that features restaurant-quality food and prepared food for those on-the-go.  Chief Executive Officer Randy Edeker says their restaurant is a trend-setter that they believe is what people want from their grocery stores in today’s society.

“We think that towns (Jefferson) this size are under served with food to-go, are under served with a place to go to get something to eat.  And there’s probably great restaurants here so I’m not saying anything bad about them, but we just think there’s a need in most of the towns that we serve to bring prepared foods.”

Store Director Lori Subbert says a ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 10am later that day.  There will also be giveaways, door prizes and specials throughout the week.  Customers can also experience food demonstrations throughout the store.

Jefferson Hy-Vee includes an in-store pharmacy with a drive-up lane; a HealthMarket; a hot food bar with barbecue, hot Asian and Italian food departments; a salad and cold foods bar; a bakery; a delicatessen station; fresh and frozen seafood; a meat department; and a wine and spirits department.
