The Roland-Story offense and defense worked well in Jefferson on Tuesday night and the Norsemen handed Greene County a 70-57 loss in the middle school gym. It was the seventh straight defeat for the Rams, who fell to 6-13 overall and 6-11 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference games, while R-S improved to 14-6 on the season and 11-6 in conference play. The big difference in the game came at the free throw line where R-S was 17 of 20 while the Rams were six of 12 from the stripe. Both teams made 21 field goals and both sank nine goals from three-point range.
Senior Landon Braun led Greene County with 17 points in his final home game while junior Ried Lamoureux came off the bench to score 11. Braun had five three-point goals while Lamoureux had two. Sophomore Trey Tucker was held to a season low nine points after entering the game leading Class 3A in scoring average at 23.3 per contest.
R-S had five players score in double figures with 14 from John Barclay and 13 each by Colin Greene and Tyler Hovick. All three are juniors.
Greene County plays PCM in Monroe on Feb. 13 to end the regular season. That’s a JV/varsity doubleheader with coverage of the varsity game on Friday night starting around 7:15 p.m.
