It’s the final home games and doubleheader of the season for the ADM girls and boys basketball teams, which will both try for a season series split with the Carlisle Wildcats Tuesday night in Adel.
The ADM girls (8-11, 5-7 RRC) will look for their second consecutive Tuesday upset against the No. 3 Lady Wildcats. Carlisle (18-1, 11-1 RRC) is tied with Ballard for first place in the conference and has won 14 straight since losing to Perry in the fourth game of the season. The Wildcats have for the most part run over the competition, winning games by an average of 18.2 points.
But the Tigers were one of only a few teams that have forced Carlisle to break a sweat, having nearly upset the Wildcats in their own gym back on January 13. In fact, the Tigers had a three-point lead entering the fourth quarter before Carlisle cranked up the defense pressure and outscored ADM 20-11 over the final eight minutes for a 52-46 win.
The ADM boys lost to Carlisle 75-64 on Jan. 13. It was one of just three games in which the Wildcats (8-8, 7-5 RRC) have scored more than 70 points against a porous ADM defense that has struggled all season.
In the last three games of their current four-game losing streak, however, its been the offense that has let down the Tigers. ADM (3-15, 3-9 RRC) has averaged just 52 points over that span, while shooting 39 percent (59-153) from the field, 55 percent (26-47) from the free throw line and a dreadful 20 percent (12-59) from beyond the arc.
Pregame coverage on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com from the North Gym at ADM High begins at 5:45 p.m., with the girls to tip at 6 and the boys game to follow.
