The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors will decide today whether or not they will provide funding in the upcoming fiscal year to hire another deputy for the Sheriff’s department. Sheriff Marty Arganbright says getting the money for the deputy is number one on his to-do list right now. “It is a priority for me, it’s my top priority right now to add another deputy, it’s for public safety reasons, and to decrease the response time for the people in the county.”
The Sheriff’s Department hasn’t received funding for an additional deputy in over two decades, and although the population has remained about the same, Arganbright says the amount of meth use and violent crime has increased over the past several years.
