A few slots are available for this Saturday’s free tax preparation program at the Greene County ISU Extension Office.

Coordinator Lori Mannel says the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is a group of trained individuals who can help fill out your taxes.  She reminds everyone that VITA can’t prepare complex tax forms, only basic forms.

“This is for a basic tax preparation.  So it you have a lot of amendments, it’s more of the EZ form.  If it’s more involved with an estate or stocks income and things like that, we’re not able to accommodate.  It’s just for a basic tax preparation.”

One of the main qualifications is that a family’s income is less than $57,000.

Appointments must be scheduled in advance and will last for one-hour.  It will be from 8am-3pm at the Extension office.  Other times are from 4-8pm every Tuesday in February and on Saturday, February 21st.
