The Perry girls basketball team will look to get back on track tonight when they travel to Winterset for a 6:00 tip with the Huskies.  Perry was stunned at home Tuesday night by ADM 57-54.

“We scored 54 points which is right around our season average, said Perry Head Coach Mike Long.  “But our defense was terrible.  We put a lot of attention on what we did wrong in Wednesday’s practice and went back to work on the defensive fundamentals.”

A big key tonight for the 7th ranked Jayettes will be the health of Grace Marburger.  The talented sophomore missed Tuesday’s game with an illness and will be a game time decision tonight.  Perry defeated Winterset 53-46 earlier this year despite Husky guard and future UNI star Mariah Criswell scoring 37 of Winterset’s 46 points.  And, as a little extra added twist, this might not be the final time these two teams face one another.  The 4A Regionals matches Perry against the winner of Winterset-Des Moines Hoover in a Regional Semifinal.

“I don’t like that.  That’s going to be a real difficult matchup.  It gets to the point the third time around where they know what we are going to do and we will know what they want to do.  Although we have held some things back, there is going to be a certain familiarity that they will have.  It will be tough for us since they know how we like to attack and hopefully tough for them since we know how they like to attack.”

You can listen to Perry and Winterset tonight beginning at 5:42 on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
