The Paton-Churdan basketball teams swept a Rolling Valley Activities Conference doubleheader on Friday night in Glidden vs. Glidden-Ralston. The girls’ final was 49-42 and 58-39 was the boys’ score.
Junior Carleigh Paup led the Rockets in the girls’ game with 37 points and Julia Fleecs had 28 to lead G-R. The Rockets led 21-9 after one quarter, but the lead was only 25-23 at halftime, and 37-36 at the end of the third quarter. The Rockets are 11-6 overall and 11-5 in the Rolling Valley, while G-R fell to 11-6 in conference games.
Senior Jake Carey scored 22 of high game-high 33 points in the second half for the P-C boys, who remain in the second place in the league at 14-2, behind undefeated Ar-We-Va (Westside). P-C is 14-3 overall while the Wildcats fell to 9-8 in league action.
Both Paton-Churdan and West Harrison games scheduled for today in Churdan have been postponed until Tuesday, Feb. 10. The girls play that night at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
