The Panorama girls varsity basketball team made easy work of the Van Meter varsity girls, winning 61 to 26 in Panora last night. The lopsided game was mostly due in part to Van Meter’s leading scorer Mackenzie Roberts being out of the game with an injury. With the win, the Panthers improve to an excellent 16-2 record on the season. Panorama head girls coach Dan Druivenga had this to say about his team’s performance, “At times I thought our intensity and execution was really good in the first quarter, second quarter it looked like we let down a little bit. Or as I told them, I thought they were a little bit out of shape and tired. Wednesday they conned me into not running so hard, so we’ll have a harder practice next week, I’ll guarantee you.”

The Panorama girls were led in scoring by senior Brooke Beckman with 12.

The boys game was similar to the girl’s game in that the Panorama boys led 17 to 5 after the first quarter, but it was all down hill from there. The underdog Van Meter Bulldogs outscored Panorama each of the final three quarters, and scraped out a stunning 53 to 51 win. After the game, Panorama head coach Brad Halterman says his team just didn’t execute like they were capable of, “We didn’t play like we’re capable of playing. Didn’t follow the game plan. Didn’t do what were supposed to do”.

With the loss, the Panorama boys have a 13-4 record. The Panorama boys have a game at Greene County tonight, and the girls play next Tuesday night at Woodward Granger.
