The high school wrestling dual meet season ended for Greene County on Thursday night in Monroe with the Rams winning 42-30 over PCM, and 60-15 vs. Colfax-Mingo. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team overcame a 4-8 dual meet start in December to finish at 10-9 overall and they went 5-4 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.

The win vs. PCM took place first with wrestling starting at 120, where neither team had an entry. The Rams picked up falls from Kane Borgeson (106), Jordan Challen (138), Keyden Pollock (182), Hunter Ruth (195), and Jamie Theulen (220), while collecting a forfeit from Tommy Bradshaw (145). Brothers Abe Yoder (132) and Isaiah Yoder both won by decision.

Against the Tigerhawks, winners by fall were Cayden Gerdes (126), Challen, Bradshaw, and Mark Kendall (170), with wins by forfeit from Borgeson, A. Yoder, I. Yoder, Pollock, Ruth, and Theulen.

Saturday’s Gutire Center tournament is the only regular season event left on the Greene County wrestling schedule. The Rams enter the postseason on Saturday, Feb. 7 in Humboldt at a Class 2A Sectional tournament.
