Earlier this month we told you about a generous, substantial donation the Marc, Jeff and Matt Whiton families made to the Perry public works, police and fire departments as a thank you for their help when the family’s feed mill burnt to the ground last May.

The largest portion of the money was given to the Perry Firefighter’s Association and Chief Chris Hinds says they’re still determining where the funds should go.

“The money is sitting in the bank and it’s not hurting anything there at this time.  We’ve got a number of different ideas, well every member on the department has a different idea of what the money should be used for.  We’ve formed a committee to kind of look at things and what would be in the best interest of the department.”

As we’ve reported, the police department plans to use their money to purchase body cameras for officers and the City of Perry has created a special Safety Committee fund for the money the public works department received.
