We have more information from this Tuesday’s rollover accident near Jefferson.

Iowa State Trooper Jeff Cunningham tells Raccoon Valley Radio at 8:54am Tuesday, 52 year-old Martin Perez Velazquez of Perry was heading west on County Road E-53, just east of Jefferson, when he lost control while trying to pass another vehicle and slid off the road.  Cunningham says frost is to blame for the crash and Velazquez rolled his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, hitting two trees before the vehicle came to a stop on its top.

Velazquez and a 16 year-old male passenger from Rippey were taken to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services for minor injuries.  They were treated and released  later that day.  The vehicle is considered to be a total loss and there was property damage at 1502 230th Street.

Cunningham says Velazquez is being charged with failure to maintain control.

The Greene County Sheriff’s office, Greene County EMS and the Jefferson fire and police departments assisted at the scene.
