Sheriff Marty Arganbright is attempting to persuade the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors to provide funding for another sheriff’s deputy for his department to better be be able to handle the call volume that they receive. Arganbright says that he asked for two deputies last year, and was narrowly shot down, “It failed 3 to 2, and the Supervisors said to try again this year, and they would have more questions, and they did. And maybe I could answer more of those questions.”  The Supervisors have made no decision on the funding for the extra deputy yet, however, Guthrie Center Mayor Denny Kunkle will be meeting with the county Board of Supervisors tomorrow to discuss the sheriff’s department possibly taking over law enforcement duties for the City of Guthrie Center, which would completely change the current budgetary situation of the sheriff’s department.
