Scranton Manufacturing updateScranton Manufacturing continues to make progress on the company’s largest facility expansion. The expansion will increase their space by 50% and enable the creation of 75 new jobs.

The 56,000 square-foot expansion on the north end began in June 2014. Vice-President of Operations Jim Ober says they had a major problem in the fall. The ground was too wet to pour concrete. That caused a three-month delay.

The project has now been completed. Ober states that the concrete has been poured, the outside steel structure is complete, and a retention pond has been dug to help control flooding.

Ober points out that the new addition will include parts of their garbage truck assembly lines and paint booths.

“This is a well needed piece of the business so we can paint our product and that’s been kind of a bottleneck for us in the past.  So we just ordered those last week. They have a little bit of lead time but they’re going to be ready before we’re ready at this point.”

The final part of the project will involve enclosing the building and installing the doors. Ober notes that the doors are on backorder, which may lead to more delays.

Ober believes the project will be completed by late spring or early summer.
