A fire destroyed a home at 308 3rd Sreet in Rippey Wednesday.

According to Greene County Dispatch, the initial call came in at 10:22am this morning.  Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the occupants of the rental property were not home at the time of the fire and that the property is owned by Mark Quillen.

Rippey Mayor Dan Brubaker witnessed the incident and said the attached barn on the east part of the property was fully engulfed in flames when his wife called 911.  He says the building has been a rental property since the 1980’s and before that it was a doctor’s office.  The home is considered to be a total loss.

Haupert says no one was hurt in the incident and the cause of the fire remains under their investigation.

Grand Junction, Perry and Jefferson fire departments, the Sheriff’s office and Grand Junction Rescue all responded to the scene.
