Greene County High School senior Marissa Promes recently signed to play softball next season for Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. The right handed pitcher went 25-5 in 2014 and was named to the Class 3A first all-state team after helping the Rams get to the State Tournament and a third place finish with an overall record of 29 wins and eight losses. Promes had a 1.45 earned run average as a junior with excellent control. She had just 30 walks and two batters hit with pitches while striking out 226.
She became the top Greene County pitcher in 2014 after earned second team all-state honors as a catcher in 2013. She batted .353 last summer with three home runs and 26 runs batted in. Promes hit .419 as a sophomore.
Indian Hills is one of five Iowa Community Colleges playing softball on the NJCAA Division I level. The program has had several College Softball World Series appearances with the most recent in 2010.
